Surya Namaskar is the sun salutation: a series of postures that flow together as a moving meditation. This sequence is foundational and is often used in classes as a warm up. If one does not fully understand the sequence and alignment of the postures, there may be a loss in the connection to the breath and a distraction from focus. Taking the time to explore the sun salutation will allow the student to find a greater sense of empowerment in their practice.

This workshop will build confidence in the practice of Surya Namaskar A & B. After the postures are examined, they will be linked together in a flowing sequence. As the sequence is practiced, an emphasis will be placed on the use of the breath. It is through the breath that the student will develop depth, and fine tune their attention, to elevate their journey through yoga.

Examine the alignment of each composite posture

Link the posture together for a flowing meditation

Examine the alignment of postures specific to Surya Namaskar B

-modifications and variations will be discussed

Link the posture together for a flowing meditation
