To find success in an arm balance, you must begin with the core. This includes the abdominals, but also the finer muscles like the intercostals and hip flexors. Arm balances are perceived as being advanced, but many of them are accessible to all students after one learns how to distribute weight and use the fulcrum of the joints. Arm balances are less about strength and flexibility, and more about stability and mobility. Taking the time to explore the arm balances will allow the student to find a greater sense of empowerment in their practice.
